3 North East men have been sentenced for offences involving the theft of HGV's throughout the UK.
In November 2011 this organised crime group based in Bishop Auckland were arrested following their involvement in the theft of HGV's and Plant Equipment from Scotland, Cumbria and North Wales.
Once stolen, the vehicles and equipment were driven back to County Durham where they were cut up and disposed of.
The crime group leader Brian THEXTON has since been charged with conspiracy and is presently on remand.
His 3 fellow conspirators Neil LOWES, Stephen SMITH (aka Pidgeon) and Brett DAWSON have all received prison sentences in excess of 4 years.
